Flagship project
Field Compass
A mobile-first resource navigator that helps people find verified resources, understand the next step, and get there — for shelter, food, hygiene, documents, legal help, and more. Not just a directory: a guided path to help.
What it does
Verified answers, when they matter most.
Built as a web app and Android app.
Purpose
To give people experiencing homelessness, case workers, outreach teams, first responders, shelter staff, volunteers, and concerned citizens accurate information they can actually use.
Designed for real phones
The interface follows Android and Apple platform conventions, so it feels native and fast on the devices people actually carry.
Voice & Español
Field Compass supports voice and Spanish, because the people who need it most aren't all reading English on a big screen.
Guides from lived experience
Practical guides live in the app, written firsthand by someone who has actually navigated these systems.
Verified & server-backed
Resources live in a database, not a frozen list, with a report option next to each one so anyone can flag something that's wrong or out of date.
App Store release
The Android app is live today; an iOS / App Store version is funding-dependent.
A note on scope
Field Compass is a separate, actively developed application at fieldcompass.site. Williams Compass links to it and explains its mission here; the Williams Compass website and database are independent of Field Compass's own systems.
